The book of essays by author and educator Michael Collins, author of The Big Books of Literature and The Bible and a frequent contributor to The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, is one of the most acclaimed books of the year.
Collins has also written widely in the field of ancient and contemporary Christianity, and his book is considered to be a classic of the field.
Collins will receive the prize in Oslo on Feb. 10.
Collins was also named one of The Wall St. Journal’s “30 under 30” for his work on teaching, teaching and public engagement.
“I am so honored to receive this prestigious award for my writing on the subject of ancient Christianity,” Collins said.
“I was also honored to be named one for teaching the book of the Bible and for the modern church, as well as one of its 20 top contributors.”
The book was published in 2018.
Collins’ other books include: “A History of the Church: From Ancient Times to the Present,” “The New Testament: The First Three Books,” “A Bible for the Future: The New Testament in the Age of the Internet,” “God and the Bible: How the Bible Contributes to Our Knowledge,” “An Introduction to Christian Ethics,” and “The Life and Times of Jesus Christ.”
He has written more than 30 books for children, and has been an author, editor and lecturer.
Collins is the author of three books of nonfiction, which are available for free download on Amazon.com and in bookstores nationwide.
His books include The Bible as a Public Service: A Biblical and Modern History, and The New Gospel of the World: A Modern Interpretation of the Old.
He is the recipient of the 2017 and 2018 Merit in Teaching Award, the 2018 Nobel Prize for Literature, the 2017 Bancroft Prize in Fiction, and the 2018 Robert B. Bennett Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Collins also received a 2013 National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama.
He received a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship in 2018 for teaching and writing.
