The Harvard Book Store is the most popular bookstore in the country, with more than 30,000 locations across the United States.
It’s one of the oldest and largest bookstores in the nation, with its namesake bookshop in Cambridge.
But the bookstore has had a rocky history.
The bookstore’s founding father, John T. Tufts, was convicted in 1947 of violating state law prohibiting the sale of gambling chips and was sentenced to two years in prison.
He died in 1994.
The bookseller eventually reopened, with the Tufts name still on its building.
But the store’s current owner, Richard Tufts Jr., was convicted of conspiracy to commit mail fraud in 2008, was sentenced in 2016 to 30 years in jail, and was released in 2018.
In recent years, Tufts has been a frequent target of lawsuits by conservative activists and other groups that argue that the Tuft family’s ownership of the bookstore is a direct attack on the First Amendment.
Tuft’s son, Andrew, is now the new owner of the Harvard Book store.
The company, which is owned by a third-party investor, has faced other lawsuits.
In 2017, the company was sued by the American Civil Liberties Union for refusing to comply with the Freedom of Information Act request of a federal court.
In 2016, the federal government sued the Tufmans and their son for a civil rights violation.
In addition to lawsuits, the Tuflmans also sued Harvard in the United Kingdom for allegedly withholding information from a Freedom of Info Act request.
In 2015, the bookshop filed a complaint in California against a University of California, Berkeley law professor who was trying to block access to information from the Harvard book store.
The bookseller says the professor used the name of an employee and a university email address.
In February, the law professor sued the university for failing to respond to the Tufamts’ request for documents.
In response to the lawsuit, the university announced it was “reviewing its internal policies regarding FOIA and the Tufty family’s privacy rights” and would not respond to any FOIA requests from the Tufar family.
The Tufts have also been a target of the First Freedom Project, a nonprofit group that has pushed for the government to crack down on the bookselling industry, saying that they are profiting from the sale and marketing of the books.
The group is funded by the publisher HarperCollins, the publisher of The Hunger Games.
The group, which also includes authors and publishers including J.K. Rowling, has argued that bookselling companies profit from their books and that the booksellers profit from the content of the book.
In the past, the group has sued bookseller after bookseller for violating their rights, but it was unsuccessful in that case.
In 2017, Tuft filed a federal lawsuit against the Tufa family for violating the Freedom to Work Act.
In a filing with the court, Tuffamts claimed that HarperCollins had violated their First Amendment rights because the company sold the books under a different name.
The publisher denied the claim.
In its response to Tuft, HarperCollins stated that the publishers publishing The Hunger Game was not a publishing company, but instead a non-profit, which it described as “a nonprofit organization, owned by one of our members.”
The Tufts have not responded to requests for comment.
